Meet the ArtistLaurel Dunscomb creates unique sculptural art in metals such as bronze, steel, aluminum, and glass for public places, businesses, homes, and gardens. As a skilled sculpture artist, Laurel has artworks featured in public and private collections as well as national and international exhibitions.![]() “I chose sculpture as a medium because of its unique ability to communicate. Sculpture allows us to experience tangible form and intangible space. I incorporate the two so the viewer perceives them as equal and is drawn into this relationship. The pieces comprise a modeling process that interprets simplicity as power and balance as an urgent kinetic force. My work integrates into the environment in which it is placed yet moves us into an internal place, which is open to interpretation. The experience is completed on an individual basis depending on what the individual has experienced and all the paradoxes that implies. My sculpture will respond not just to the physical conditions but also to the cultural context of its environment. I work with relevant themes that affect human lives. Subject matter has included the environment, racial equality, and human rights. The awareness of these issues and addressing them in my work will, hopefully, work towards a better future for upcoming generations.” |
